WARNING

If you fail to have a new clutch fitted to your vehicle having ignored all the warning signs, some of which you can read in this article, in extreme cases a solid fly wheel can separate and sheer off causing major engine damage.

CLUTCH FAILURE ADVICE

When you hear a new and different from usual sound coming from the engine area or anywhere in the car or you feel vibrations at the pedals or under the drivers seat, consult with us immediately! By doing so you may well be saving yourself catastrophic engine damage not to mention a small fortune on repairs!

CLUTCH FAILURE IS A COMMON SERVICE ON MOST VEHICLE TYPES

SOME SIGNS THAT YOUR CLUTCH MAY BE FAILING.

1] CANT GET THE CAR INTO 1ST GEAR OR REVERSE?

The clutch will not engage when pressed. This is a classic sign of total clutch failure and goes way past any of the other signs in which you may need a clutch replacement.

2] VIBRATIONS COMING FORM THE PEDALS AND FOOT WELL

This is a little harder to pick up on as it can be very subtle and does not necessarily mean that the clutch in the car is gone so to speak but, it is an indication that trouble may be looming.

3] A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR

Again a classic sign and any mechanic worth his salt will no straight away to  hear this sound. Imagine the noise a saucepan lid makes when it hits the floor and rattles and rattles until it finally comes to a stop, well a broken clutch sounds a lot like this on a continual basis, particularly on dual mass clutches.  

4] SLIPPING OR FASTER THAN USUAL DISENGAGEMENT

When you press the pedal clutch slips and disengages a lot faster than it normally would.
